Data Leak In Britain Affects 25 Million

The article is saying how the British government had problems Wednesday to explain it's loss of compuer disks containing detailed personal information on 25 million Britons, it includes an unknown number of bank account identifiers. Analysts are describing this as the most significant security breach of the digital era. The government did not disclose the loss until 10 days after it had been informed.

I think that the government should have atleast told the people this happened to about it. It was not the right thing to do by keeping them in the dark about it. Their identities could be stolen if this information is in the wrong hands. I think it's wrong of the government to withhold information like that. The government is supposed to protect their citizens not keep impportant information away from them and certainly not by allowing something like this to happen.

Apple, China Mobile discuss China iphone

China wants Apple to bring their iphone to China. There hasn't been an agreement yet because the companies still need to work out their differences over revenue sharing. China Mobile is China's largest cell phone carrier.

I think that Apple will eventually bring their iphone to China because they will want the money it brings in. They will reach some sort of agreement with China.

A Computer That Works With Google Not Microsoft

This article says that Linux has made a computer that avoids the Microsoft Tax because it runs with Google and Linux. The computer has a 1.5-gigahertz Via processor, 512 megabytes of memory and an 80-gigabyte hard drive. This computer is currently available at Wal-Mart for $200.00.

I think this is good for people that don't like using Microsoft and Windows.

Improving the ipod Experience

This article is about Myvu's new headset for video ipods. It allows you to see your videos on a screen that looks like a tv screen, you don't have to look at a tiny screen in the palm of your hand! It costs about $200 and you wear them like you would wear eye glasses. They have little headphones coming out of the arm that goes behind your ears. The headset plugs into the place for headphones. You can see outside the glasses through a space they have left at the side of the glasses (it's translucent) however, it's not a lot of vision room to see all around you. You would have to be VERY careful if you were to wear them while walking around.

I think that this is a very good idea. It allows people to see their videos better but I think it's too expensive to buy. I also think it would be too dangerous to wear them in public. Someone could attack the person from behind and they wouldn't be able to see who the attacker is. It's also dangerous if you're ttrying to cross a street.

New, cheaper PlayStation 3 coming soon

This article says that Sony Corp. is coming out with a newer, and cheaper playstation 3. This low-end model will cost around $399.00, and you won't be able to play playstation 2 games on the playstation 3 system. This system also has a 40gb drive. Microsoft Corps. X-box 360 costs $350.00 and Nintendo Corps. Nintendo Wii costs $250.00. Sony's Playstation 3 comes in at third place, trailing Microsoft and Nintendo.

I think that the only reason Sony is making a cheaper Playstation 3 is because they're hoping more people will buy it because of the reduced price. I think they're just trying to outsell Microsoft and Nintendo and hoping that people won't realize you can't play your playstation 2 games on this new system which can be a pain in the butt. I think it's a good idea to have a cheaper system for people that can't afford the more expensive one but I think it's not fair they can't play playstation 2 games on those systems.

Privacy Lost

This article is about cell phones that have trackers in them and people can see where you are at all times. You have the choice to decide who can and can't see where you are but I think this still causes problems because kids usually don't want their parents to know where they are, because their parents would be bugging them all the time, especially if they know their kids are lying to them. Graphics programs

So far we have explored two graphics programs; corel draw and adobe photoshop. I really don't like either program. They're hard to figure out how to use if you've never used them before. Although I did find that Corel draw was a bit easier for me to use.

I found the first link on the course calendar (http://itc.utk.edu/workshops/dm149/default.shtml) to be not helpful at all. It was very hard to understand and I could not find any tutorials. The second link (http://www.bluesfear.com/tutorials.php?PHPSESSID=68dfe759e955a71eaa5be175c3f5935a) was not helpful to me either, I found that the instructions did not match the program I was using so I had to keep picking a different tutorial to do until I got frustrated and moved on to another website. The third link (http://good-tutorials.com/) was equally frustrating, the tutorials were not worded nicely, were hard to understand, and did not quite match the program I was using. The fourth link (http://absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/) was the best link out of all of them, I found three tutorials that I found were easy to do and easy to understand. The tutorials I used were worded well enough that I could understand what to do and they were the right instructions for the program I was using.

E-mail chain reunites football fan with lost digital camera

A Buckeye football fan lost his digital camera outside the stadium and a woman found it. Instead of bringing it to the lost and found she brought it home and uploaded a picture from it and sent it to a bunch of Ohio State football fans. She sent the email to 14 friends and asked them to pass it on. Within 48 hours the owner of the digital camera contacted her.

I think this shows that some people are nice enough to return things that don't belong to them. It amazes me that all this lady had to do was send an email with a picture off the camera to 14 friends and ask them to pass it on and it didn't take very long at all to find the owner.

This article is about people being charged outrageous prices for using their iphones outside of the united states. The article gives 3 different people's stories about their iphones and why the charges were given. It also gives responses from an AT&T spokesman. The article says that there are a lot of people complaining to the company or in blogs.

My response to this article is that people should make sure they know everything they can know about their phones and they should ask their phone company's about any additional charges that may be given to them. I think that in these cases it was a wise idea for these people to fight their outrageous phone bills. Cell phone companies are out to get money and in my opinion they will do anything they can to trick people so they make more money.
